Chinese versus Mandarin

Just a quick note here; will refine another day.

Chinese (中文)refers only to the written form, whereas Mandarin (华语,普通话,国语), Cantonese, Hokkien, etc refer to only the spoken form. No matter how you read the words, their written form does not change.

It therefore is incorrect to say that “I can write Mandarin” although it is correct to say “I can read in Mandarin”.
